Research

Keywords:

Research: These days I've been most interested in entropy in quantum mechanics, in particular thermodynamic issues in quantum information. I've also been working with some of my colleagues at Saint Anselm on experimental realizations of entangled photons (à la the Kwiat group on a smaller scale). I also do quite a bit of work in the history of physics, astronomy, and mathematics, in particular on the work of Sir Arthur Eddington and Edward A. Milne.

Affiliations

Groups:
Editor of APS TGQI's The Quantum Times: http://units.aps.org/units/gqi/newsletters/index.cfm.

Collaborators:
I've been working a lot with Frank Schroeck lately and trying to convince Caslav Brukner to collaborate. Occasionally I solicity ideas from Barry Sanders. Locally, I hang out with fellow Anselmians David Guerra, George Parodi, and Jeff Schnick, all of whom (like me) are refugees from other research areas.

Education

Undergraduate:
Institution: University at Buffalo (SUNY), 1992-1997 (B.S. Mechanical Engineering)

Graduate:
Institution: (1) The Johns Hopkins University, 1998-2000 (M.S. Applied Physics)
Institution: (2) University of St. Andrews, 2000-2005 (Ph.D. Mathematics)

Biography

Born: February, early 1970s | East Aurora, New York (technically Sister's Hospital in Buffalo, but that's splitting hairs)
