Quantum trajectories represent solutions to the Stochastic Master Equation for a particular system and may be viewed in two ways:

  1. a computational tool that, when averaged, efficiently estimates the solution to the unconditional master equation describing a system.
  2. the actual description our state of knowledge during a real single-shot experiment, which is conditional on the inherently random measurement record .

There are many different numerical ways to simulate quantum trajectories.
