captcha

Interesting captcha! I want to put it in other wiki I contribute. How can I make that? Osias 05:12, 13 June 2007 (PDT)

actually, I was going to suggest something even better: To prevent new users to make any editions except in their user pages, describeing themselves and why they are here. Spammers will never do that - at least not for ALL sites they are spam-boting.
It works very well for years in a mail list I run about soap operas: new subscribers must send to moderators a mail saying which soap operas they like. Never failed.
But let's see if they defeat those simple captchas first.

please...?

Can you please move my user page against moves? Thanks! Osias 05:44, 2 August 2007 (PDT)

wikiFactor

Dear Anthony, if you are interested I have just adapted the Hirsch h-index for use with wikis, (see arXiv:0902.3439), and that Qwiki comes out of the 'analysis' rather well, with a wikiFactor of 17. All the best, Carl McBride -- SklogWiki (talk) 16:54, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Active community

"...We still haven't found a way to get more than a fairly small portion of our community actively involved and it looks like you have been very successful in that regard. I would love to hear what, if anything, has been important to having an active community."

So far we have not been as successful as it may seem; the majority of the edits are from a nucleus of friends. That, and the occasional 'drive-by' posting. The 'wiki-concept' is still in its infancy!. On a different subject, I notice that Qwiki receives its fair share of spam. Since SklogWiki installed reCAPTCHA for MediaWiki we have had very little problems. It is well worth a look at. All the best, Carl McBride -- SklogWiki (talk) 10:05, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
